My STORY

Joanna Rene Rasmussen, Accountant.  I’m an Oakland resident and California native. After 24 years working at a boutique CPA firm, I decided to leave my job in order to better serve those who are being of service to others. I have professional certificates in Leadership and Management, and Mediation and Conflict Resolution.  

In addition to my work with BOWS, I operate my own small bookkeeping business which gives me the freedom to pursue a more robust outdoor lifestyle.  I enjoy backpacking to remote lakes, sleeping outside, swimming in the bay, chasing sunrises on my bike, and playing in the dirt with worms.  

I believe the most important responsibility anyone can have is to educate the young and to nurture a child’s relationship with the natural world.  While I am not an educator, I’m so proud to be part of an organization doing this work!
